We call patina a process of aging. We know the term from many things in our lives. The furniture that has gained a different color due to its age, the watch that has gotten some scratches from wearing, the building that has faded a bit, etc. In all these things, we speak benevolently of patina. Patina has a positive connotation. So we attribute a better value to it than the object had in its new condition.
In shoes, the theme of patina is omnipresent. It has accompanied us especially in men's shoes for generations. Traditionally, patina in shoes is seen as good care and appreciation. The color shifts, new tones and new color gradients emerge. In the past, this was also an indication that the shoe had been owned for many years and carefully cared for. Today, this patina is sometimes already created in new products. Who doesn't know the new jeans on the shelf partially washed out and with tears. In the past, this was a sign that the jeans had many years of wear behind them. Today, it is bought in this "used look." This only happens because we attribute added value to this so-called patina.
We have patina or maturity in people as well as in perfumes. These also mature and often result in a new, better scent impression.
As a homage to the many things that gain value through patina and because patina is an omnipresent theme in men's shoes, we have given the new Roberto Ugolini fragrance this esteemed name.
PATINA – the fragrance
Patina, the new fragrance from Roberto Ugolini, is part of the Extrait collection. In this, the special formulas are composed with a very high fragrance oil concentration. In the case of Patina, this is a fragrance oil content of 30%.
The fragrance Patina is a classic Amber fragrance with a special twist.
Amber fragrances, not to be confused with Ambra or Ambergris as an ingredient, are chords that evoke an ambery warm woody impression. Amber fragrances are very popular and thus rank among the top categories of fragrance types.
Patina is my interpretation of an Amber fragrance. Classic Amber chords meet a fruity twist. In this case, the mango. The fruit chords of the mango, which itself also represents a very sweet and warm Note, fits perfectly with the classic Amber note.
The fragrance starts with a distinct, warm Amber note and a pushing fruitiness. At the beginning, it is very influenced by the fruit, but over time it will increasingly develop into this classic Amber direction.
The mango together with the honey creates a sweet scent impression that is supported by the floral Note of Ylang-Ylang.
In the heart, as usual with me, the Iris together with gentle Gurjum balsam and strong Guajak wood.
The base is characterized by sweet Notes with vanilla and a potent amount of sandalwood.
